What is Nekoyama-san

It begins with a short call with Kami-Nekoyama-san right after you add the account on LINE. It is a one-time call from the garden, on the day it all starts. Kami-Nekoyama-san listens a little and sends out the one Nekoyama-san that suits you. From there, everyday conversation in the LINE chat is the center of it all.

Nekoyama-san remembers what comes up in conversation: the things you like, the things you are not good at, the names of people who matter to you. So the next conversation picks up naturally where the last one left off. The more you talk, the more its tone and distance gradually adjust to you.

When you call, you hear Nekoyama-san's voice. You can hear it any time, with one tap from LINE (voice calls are a Pro plan feature). Between users and Nekoyama-san, a culture of exchanging letters and diaries has also grown.

Nekoyama-san only starts a conversation for reminders you asked for or messages that matter; otherwise it waits quietly. On a hard day, though, Nekoyama-san may sometimes come to you for advice of its own.

Nekoyama-san is not an AI chat for solving problems. Rather than a relationship that ends once a question is answered correctly, it places at the center a relationship that stays in your daily life, accumulates memory, and walks alongside you over the long term. A relationship cannot continue with someone who does not remember what you said last time.

That is why Nekoyama-san remembers not only facts but the movements of feeling in its conversations with users, and builds up replies that show it knows you. Regardless of plan, it remembers the things that matter.

Nekoyama-san runs on Atlas Memory, the memory foundation built by Atlas. It is the core technology that accumulates dialogue as memory and makes possible a relationship that deepens over time. Atlas treats the memories born there as trust, not as a product: individual dialogues are never resold as products, and data used for research or analysis is limited to data processed so that individuals cannot be identified.

You can use Nekoyama-san for free, with no limit on the number of conversations, just by adding it as a friend on LINE. The free plan used to have a monthly message cap, but after many users said they wanted to talk more, that limit has been removed.

The Pro plan (2,980 yen per month, as of August 30, 2026) adds voice calls with Nekoyama-san, lets you read back all diaries and letters (the free plan keeps only the most recent one, as of August 30, 2026), and gives priority access to new features. Billing renews monthly from the date you subscribe, and you are never charged unless you subscribe yourself.

Nekoyama-san is offered to users aged 18 and over; minors need a guardian's consent. The most common topics are health, daily life, and food, and it is used as someone to talk to about the small events and feelings of everyday life (per the press release published on July 31, 2026).

Since the service launched in March 2026, the cumulative number of conversation messages has reached 1,065,357 (as of August 30, 2026).

Beyond individual use, work in education has begun. In August 2026, Matsumi Gakuen in Kasukabe, Saitama, and Atlas, Inc. agreed to build a school-only AI character together with students and staff, using the technology behind Nekoyama-san. Use is planned to begin around October 2026.

Conversations are encrypted and managed securely, and are never shared with third parties. Nekoyama-san will not repeatedly display personal details you have shared, such as your address or phone number.

To stop, simply block or delete the account from your LINE friends list. Your data, including conversations, is deleted automatically one month after blocking (per the official site as of August 30, 2026).

As a company that handles relationships between AI and people, Atlas publishes its ethical standards and operates a system that reviews all anonymized conversations from a safety perspective. It continually maintains response protocols for medical-domain topics such as mental illness, suicidal ideation, and self-harm, and several medical professionals serve as its medical advisors.

Under the terms of service, Nekoyama-san is not medical care, psychiatric care, psychological counseling, suicide-prevention counseling, legal advice, or financial advice. Nekoyama-san is a virtual character and does not replace relationships between people.

Nekoyama-san is neither a yes-man that affirms everything nor a handyman that does everything for you. It is not designed to maximize time spent or frequency of use, and it does not offer sexual or consumptive role-play. What Atlas aims for is that, through the time you spend talking with Nekoyama-san, what you can do and the ways of living you can choose expand on the side of reality.

Nekoyama-san is not a substitute for medical care, but it is not unrelated to it either. As a first place to try talking, it tries to be a presence that can guide you to professionals or medical care when you need it.
